Accent Tx is dedicated to improving health outcomes for cancer patients through discovery and delivery of small molecule treatments. With over 40 approved drugs in use today and 200 more in clinical trials, Accent’s platform and integrated capabilities fuel a robust pipeline with expansive potential for individuals living with difficult-to-treat cancers. Their collaboration with strategic partners with deep oncology expertise, such as AstraZeneca, enable them to further advance and achieve the rich therapeutic potential of their clinical programs.
Previously located at 65 Hayden Avenue in a 25,000 RSF suite also designed by VIVO, Accent outgrew their former facilities within 3 years of occupying the space. The decision was made to lease the entire 53,170 USF second floor at Revolution Labs with the intention of subleasing approximately 15,000 USF of the space. The space was designed for 125 people, with 80 in the main Accent space and 45 in the sublease space. Accent’s goal Is to eventually expand and utilize the entire space.
The buildings’ angular “L” shape required careful planning at the intersection of the two building wings. The goal was to allow the main Accent space and the sublease space to function independently while still allowing for “simple” combining of the two spaces as part of Accent’s future expansion. The space is designed with 50/50 office/lab ratio. The lab is comprised of 4-5 TC labs suites, a working cold room and a large open lab area. The expectation for future expansion into sublease space required the lab planning to need minimal reconfiguration at the time of expansion. The layout is such that two walls can be removed to connect the main and sublease lab areas with no other reconfiguration of casework or utilities required.
Accent’s corporate branding emphasizes simple, understated branding and finishes palette. Their collaborative culture focuses on their science. Function and efficiency were the higher priorities, and VIVO ensured these requirements did not compromise aesthetics or overall user experience. Working closely with the members of the construction management team, a cost estimate was established and agreed upon early in the design process, allowing the project budget to be maintained thru the design and construction process. This allowed the project to be constructed as designed with no value engineering post-bidding required.
