Founded in 2015 with venture capital funding, Neon Therapeutics’ is committed to advancing the field of cancer immunotherapy, targeting the biology of abnormal proteins called neoantigens, to induce immune rejection of tumors.
The move from incubator lab space to BioMed’s Sidney Research Campus introduces Neon to the Cambridge community, and to the world. The bright colors and open office design signal Neon’s collaborative culture. A large, 2nd floor Break Room, suitable for company-wide meetings and accessed through floor to ceiling glazing, and, from the 1st floor, through an open, communicating stair, forms the heart of the space, Second floor lounge space opens to a south-facing exterior deck, while the first floor coffee bar opens directly to Sidney Research Center’s landscaped, public plaza. Second floor meeting spaces take full advantage of the south facing windows, and views toward Boston.
Located on the ground floor, the lab spaces feature high ceilings and abundant natural light. The building’s multi-leveled first floor, accrued through multiple additions, impose tricky level changes, but also enable a zoned lab layout. Chemistry and Biology are separated by a “cross-roads” corridor that also permits access to office areas and the communicating 2nd floor stair.
